Smart Home Automation: Retrofitting Window Blinds

This project involved the complete smart-home integration of all motorized window blinds within a household. By retrofitting each existing wall switch with a Shelly smart relay, the blinds were brought onto the local network. A locally-hosted Raspberry Pi running Home Assistant serves as the central brain, consolidating control of every blind into a single, unified system. This setup enables full remote control via a mobile app, as well as the creation of complex automations, such as scheduling blinds to open at sunrise or close based on the time of day. The project required hands-on electrical knowledge for safely wiring the 230V relays and proficiency in configuring the Home Assistant platform.
